Why consider a raw foods diet?
January 9th, 2010 by adminHello and welcome back to my blog on raw foods diet.
I first considered a raw food diet when I went on a Tony Robbins seminar a few years ago. The speaker on stage was talking a lot about making the body alkaline, as almost everything we consume in a western world diet makes it acidic. One solution was to drink a green drink or have a wheatgrass shot. Now, I will admit, when I first tried a wheatgrass shot I found it pretty disgusting and still do – but I did find it gave me a buzz as it is full of good nutrients as a raw food.
A perfectly legitimate question to ask when considering a raw foods diet is why should you work raw foods into what you eat everyday?
Well – in the western world we have been conditioned to cook most foods – and the act of cooking or over cooking can destroy many of the nutrients our bodies need. The opposite is true for raw foods – the nutrients are all there. That said you will never catch me eating raw brussel sprouts, unless that is the only raw food left on the planet!
A raw food detox diet can form part of a very healthy lifestyle and help give you the energy that you need to live in this very busy world. A raw foods diet is pure, natural and enjoyable. The part I think is a challenge is getting the right balance of foods.
More about that in my next post on raw foods diet!
